What is localisation?
Localisation is the process of adapting a program or website to meet the linguistic and cultural needs of the target market or "locale".

With a computer program, for example, localisation includes the translation of the user interface, on-line help and documentation, and ensuring the images and concepts are culturally appropriate and sensitive. Other things to consider are the different ways dates are written and which currencies are used.

The Localisation Industry Standards Association (LISA) defines localisation as "the process of modifying products or services to account for differences in distinct markets".
